SSDI ‘1 for 2’ Project and Benefits Planning

Everyone that is enrolled in the SSDI ‘1 for 2’ project will be encouraged to receive a benefits analysis from a trained Benefits Specialist. A Benefits Planning Assistance and Outreach (BPAO) Specialist creates a personalized analysis for an individual explaining how employment may affect their Social Security benefits. This information helps the recipient make an informed choice about working. The BPAO can also look at any other benefits a person receives (such as food stamps or housing assistance) and assess how work may affect those benefits.

This information is critical for individuals who are employed presently and earn over substantial gainful employment (SGA) and individuals planning to work and earn over this amount. SGA is $900 per month for 2007. If you are blind, SGA for 2007 is $1500 per month.

Once you are enrolled in the project, you will be referred to a Benefits Specialist.
