Health Care Needs

Healthy living requires understanding the risk factors for illness and the health factors related to your disability. It also requires the individual understand the medical system, coordinate multiple services, and advocate for needed medical services.

The importance of quality health care includes both physical and mental well being. When researching particular risk factors related to your disability, don't forget to check out various disability organization's national and local websites.

Check out these sites for more information:

  • Insurance and Health Care Coverage is available for many individuals with disabilities and/or low income residents of Utah.
  • Utah Children with Special Health Care Needs provides information for children and youth with disabilities. CSHCN provides and promotes family-centered, coordinated care and facilitates the development of community-based systems for these children and their families. CSHCN activities focus on reduction of preventable death, disability and illness in children due to chronic and disabling conditions.
  • Mental Health Services are available. Locate the programs and services available in Utah and explore information from national resources as well.
