Mental Health Services
Being mentally healthy is as important as being physically healthy. Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health (DSAMH): oversees Utah's public substance abuse and mental health system. DSAMH contracts directly with local substance abuse and local mental health agencies to provide prevention and treatment services. These local centers are responsible for providing services to their residents. Locate the local mental health center nearest you.
If you, a friend, or family member is struggling with a mental health problem or a problem with alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs there is help available. Hope and recovery are possible.

- Mental Health Crisis Lines: Mental Health Crisis Lines operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and are open to anyone needing mental health crisis services. The organizations listed provide crisis counseling and mental health information and referrals. All calls are confidential and may be made anonymously. If there is a life-threatening emergency, or if you have concerns or fear of danger, immediately call 911. 24-Hour National Suicide Prevention Hotline: 1-800-273-TALK (2855).
- Intermountain Behavioral Health Network: Provides private comprehensive mental health and substance abuse services for all populations, from toddlers to seniors across the State of Utah which includes services at Primary Children's Medical Center.
- Allies with Families: The Utah Chapter of the Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health is an advocacy group created in 1991 to offer practical support and resources for parents and their children and youth who face serious emotional, behavioral and mental health challenges.
- University Neuropsychiatric Institute (UNI): NAMI is a nonprofit, grassroots, self-help, support and advocacy organization of consumers, families, and friends of people with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic and other severe anxiety disorders, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and other severe and persistent mental illnesses that affect the brain. It provides supports, workshops and information and referral on mental health issues.
- The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH): The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) is the largest scientific organization in the world dedicated to research focused on the understanding, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders and the promotion of mental health. Provides information and research on different mental health disorders.
- Project for Parents of Children with Emotional or Behavioral Disorders (PACER): The Project for Parents of Children with Emotional or Behavioral Disorders, in its 19th year at PACER, was originally organized to assist parents and families in understanding their rights and responsibilities in accessing educational and mental health services for their children. PACER continues to be an essential resource for parents who wish to improve their advocacy skills, or who require information and assistance in accessing services for their children with EBD.
