Get a Driver License
The Driver License Division of the Utah Department of Public Safety is responsible to license and regulate drivers in Utah and promote public safety. They conduct written and driving tests as well as issue Utah Identification Cards for adults who do not have a driver's license.
Proof of Utah residence and positive identification are needed to apply for a driver's license or identification card. If you have health concerns, such as seizures, you may also need a statement from your doctor. Contact the local office near you for more information.
All individuals who have never been licensed to drive a motor vehicle must complete an approved driver education course before being licensed in Utah. A certificate of completion of the course must be given to the examiner at the time application is made. Remember that this certificate of completion is not a license to drive. For high school students, the local high schools offer driver's education courses or can also complete the classroom portion of Driver's Education online at the Utah Electronic High School.
