Public Transportation
Getting around on buses, trains and other forms of public transportation requires planning. Some communities have very 'user-friendly' ways to travel. Others require more effort. Some communities have many choices, while others have very few choices. Learn what's available in your community.
Wasatch Front—Payson to Brigham City UTA, Utah Transit Authority
- Bus, Trax, Front Runner, or Rapid Transit: UTA has a system of public buses, light rail and commuter trains for the Wastach Front which is equipped to accommodate individuals with disabilities. The website includes bus routes, how to ride the bus and transit system, and information for accessibility for individuals with disabilities including Paratransit services. - Paratransit Services: UTA's Paratransit Service ADA program is a service for people with physical, cognitive or visual disabilities who are functionally unable to independently use the UTA fixed route bus service either all of the time, temporarily or only under certain circumstances. For paratransit services in Salt Lake and Davis counties, call (801) 287-7433. For all other counties, call 1-877-882-7272
Cache Valley Transit District
- Bus System: A special services district includes the cities of Richmond, Smithfield, Hyde Park, North Logan, River Heights, Providence, Millville, Nibley, and Hyrum. For additional information call (435) 752-2877.
- Paratransit and Call-A-Ride: Call-A-Ride Paratransit service is for people with disabilities who are unable to use Cache Valley Transit District (CVTD) fixed route buses. In order to be eligible to use Call-A-Ride Paratransit service, your disability must prevent you from using the existing accessible fixed route bus service provided by CVTD. Cedar Area Transportation Service (CATS)
- Routed Buses: CATS has one route providing riders access to numerous locations throughout the community. CATS has nine trips through the route on weekdays and seven trips on Saturdays to give riders convenient scheduling throughout the day. All trips originate and terminate at the Rock Church with 27 other pickup and destination sites along the route. For more information about services, call (435) 559-RIDE or (435) 865-4510.
- Dial-a-Ride Vans: The wheelchair-accessible vans take people with disabilities and elderly customers from one place straight to another, within city limits. 24-hour notice is suggested. For personal service, curb-to-curb, please call 559-RIDE (7433) or 865-4510, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Park City
- Transit Bus: Seats in the front of the bus should be offered to the elderly and riders with disabilities. For the safety and comfort of everyone, the playing of radios, cassettes or CD'S without earphones, smoking, eating, drinking, and animals (except guide dogs) are not allowed. All Park City Transit buses are ADA accessible. For more information, call (435) 615-5301.
- Dial-a-Ride: Door-to-door van service to ADA-certified passengers who cannot ride the fixed route service. Convenient way to get from Park City to the Quinn's Junction Recreation Complex, including the National Ability Center. Requests for rides must be a minimum of two hours in advance by calling 435-640-7819. St. George
- Bus: SunTran buses run Monday through Saturday; from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. SunTran buses provide service on four routes throughout St. George. Buses run Monday through Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The four routes connect at our Transit Center at Dixie State College 100 South 1000 East. - Services for Persons with Disabilities: All SunTran buses are wheelchair accessible. Persons with disabilities, whether physical or cognitive, may ride the fixed-route service if they are able to get to and from the bus stops. Individuals who are ADA eligible and are unable to get to and from the bus stops may schedule rides on our special curb-to-curb service by calling 24 hours in advance.
